Matt Penniman, WIDE Graduate Research Assistant, Discusses the Process of Starting a Community Media Center at the Alliance for Community Media “Building Community Through Media” Conference on November 17, 2006

East Lansing, MI—Matt Penniman discussed his work on starting a Community Media Center for the greater Lansing area as part of his presentation on "How to Communicate Your Message." In addition to working as a research assistant at WIDE, Penniman is the co-chair for the Capital Area Community Media Center (CACMC) Board of Directors, a Rhetoric and Writing MA student at Michigan State University, and has worked at the Allen Neighborhood Center in Lansing for 3 years. The PowerPoint slides from the presentation are available below.

Using the attached PowerPoint slides, Penniman discussed moving from "dreaming" of a community media center (or other community ICT projects) to "doing," or being a community media center.


The conference was  held at the Kellogg Center at Michigan State University, from November 16-November 18, 2006.  Penniman's talk was held on November 17.
